2011 FIAT 500: As part of Chrysler Group’s recovery plans in the United States, the 2011 Fiat 500 will be sold by its dealers later this year. The subcompact will be the first of several Fiat products to be sold here. The new 500 will be modified for this market, built in Mexico with 1.4 liter 4-cylinder engines built in Michigan.

Chrysler gets extension to try to save Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, 1,200 jobs

Chrysler is negotiating to buy the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant from its bankruptcy estate and save about 1,200 jobs that were expected to be eliminated at the end of 2010.
Sterling Heights City Council last month voted Jan. 19 to extend $7.4-million property in tax abatements to encourage Chrysler to keep the plant open as well as a nearby center where parts are organized before being taken to the production line.....More

Everyone applauded Ford for not taking any Government loans.....

Well it's because months before the calapse they mortgaged the entire company for $23Billion dollars.

Now Ford has 3 Times the Debt of GM / Chrysler, no wage concessions from the UAW and Sales down 15.9% from last year. (it's worst year in 40 Years)

They are pinning there hopes on the New Focus and Festiva. Which are not bad, but they are a Focus and Festiva, you've already done that.

The Fusion, Taurus, Escape, lack emotion in design and already appear dated.

The Mustang is still a favorite and makes a nice rent-a-car.

Even the Ford flagship F150 is dated and weak compared to the GM Sierra and Dodge Ram trucks.

Well at least they have the Ford Transit.....Joke

Chrysler buys 60-second Super Bowl ad

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Chrysler will be the only U.S. automaker to advertise in this year's Super Bowl, forking over millions of dollars to restore its image following its bankruptcy and the federal bailout that followed.

"What better way to illustrate to our customers that we are still here than to air on the Super Bowl, which is not only watched for the game, but also for the advertising spots," said Chrysler spokeswoman Dianna C. Gutierrez.

She said that Chrysler will advertise its Dodge Charger in a 60-second commercial that will showcase "the passion of Dodge."

Ram Send GM back to The Drawing Board

After The 2010 Dodge Ram has won the Motor Trend Truck of The Year, GM goes back to the drawing board.

The new Dodge Ram out performs both GM and Ford Trucks, has better styling and an excellent interior.

Redesigned Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups will feature new exteriors and interiors, as well as better aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. Read more

Most die hard cars buffs feel Dodge missed the mark with the Dodge Charger. It has capable performance with the 5.7 Hemi engine, but the enthusiast wish the styling would have been closer to the 1969 Charger.

Is Chrysler going to reveal The Delta and Electric 500 cars at the Detroit Auto Show?

This would be great news for Chrysler if they can do so. With Ram winning the Motor Trend Truck of The Year, they should keep the good news coming.

Motor Trend Truck of the Year: 2010 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty

A heavy duty truck has won Motor Trend’s coveted Truck of the Year title -- an award the magazine has rarely given to a heavy duty truck that occupies a small niche of the market.

Dodge redesigned the Ram 1500 in 2009, adding a better driving experience and more amenities. For 2010, the heavy-duty Ram 2500 and 3500 models get the same treatment.

The award, however, reflects the changing way Americans view trucks. While pickups were common family vehicles before the recent recession, truck makers are increasingly focusing their efforts on industrial and commercial markets. The AP reports, “Motor Trend said it has refocused the prize this year to reward trucks with greater utility, as leisure truck buyers have largely deserted the market. The magazine said the new focus is reflected in the choice of finalists.”

The 2010 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty beat out the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, a high-performance off-road truck built in limited quantities, as well as two vehicles aimed primarily at commercial buyers -- the Toyota Tundra 4.6-liter work truck and the Ford Transit Connect cargo van.....More
